79 Christmas Desserts Full of Merriment (and Buttercream)
The holiday season puts us in a baking spirit. When this time of year rolls around, we roll up our ugly sweater sleeves and our research of epic Christmas desserts begins. With all those layer cakes, plum puddings, chocolaty mousses, and festive pies, we have a lot to consider when choosing what Christmas dessert recipes to make this year. Will we stick with perennial favorites like towering cheesecakes and spiced fruitcakes? Or will we switch it up and experiment with tiramisu in yule-log form or ricotta cake swathed in sheets of crispy filo? Christmas cookies are a must (holiday cookies topped with peppermint candies, jammy thumbprints, and nutty bar cookies are essential for keeping Santa happy). But we also like to make room for fudge-like chocolate truffles, minty peppermint bark, and other confections that pack neatly into a cookie tin. And just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean everything should be hard or elaborate. Sometimes it takes little more than a classic apple crisp, a gingerbread loaf, a hot chocolate Bundt cake, or festive brownies to keep you on the nice list.
