Chocolate Soap

Bring the goodness of chocolate to your own soap with this simple recipe. You’ll be tempted to wash your mouth out with this soap . . . but don’t!

Ingredients

16 ounces unscented soap base, such as shea butter soap (see Shopping Sources Guide, page 143)
6 ounces dark chocolate, melted
2 tablespoons chocolate extract
Seeds of 1 vanilla bean

Preparation

  1. Put the soap base in a big microwave-safe measuring cup or bowl. Melt according to the instructions on the package, or until it is liquid. Stir in the chocolate, chocolate extract, and vanilla bean seeds. Mix until all the ingredients are combined. Pour the mixture into soap molds or a 9-inch cake pan, and allow the chocolate soap to set at room temperature for about 1/2 hour. Then break up the soap and wrap it in individual pieces or cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
