Grilled Tuna Steaks with Thyme

You’ll have time to do some stretches, go for a walk, and even begin to make a green salad while the tuna absorbs the flavors of an herby lemon juice mixture.

Recipe information

  • Yield

Serves 4; 3 ounces fish per serving

Ingredients

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon dried parsley, crumbled
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 teaspoon dried thyme, crumbled
1/2 teaspoon pepper
4 tuna steaks (about 4 ounces each), rinsed
Cooking spray

Preparation

  1. Step 1

In a small bowl, stir together the lemon juice, parsley, oil, thyme, and pepper.

    Step 2

Put the fish in a single layer in a large glass baking dish. Rub the fish on both sides with the lemon juice mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

    Step 3

Lightly spray the grill rack with cooking spray. Preheat the grill on medium high.

    Step 4

Grill the tuna for 3 to 5 minutes on each side, or to the desired doneness.

  2. Cook’s Tip on Grilling Fish

    Step 5

For an attractive crosshatch pattern, grill the fish on one side for about one-quarter of the total grilling time. Keeping the same side down, rotate the fish 90 degrees. Grill for about one-quarter of the total grilling time. Turn the fish over and repeat.
