This syrup can be used for sweetening alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, or for adding to fruit sauces to serve with desserts.

[Use this syrup when making Strawberries & Cream Frappé.]

Recipe information

  • Yield

    Makes 2 1/2 cups

Ingredients

2 cups water
2 cups sugar

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Put the water in a pan, bring to a boil, add the sugar, and stir constantly for about 30 seconds or until the sugar has dissolved. To prevent the syrup from crystallizing, it is important that it completely dissolves. Reduce the heat to low.

    Step 2

Simmer the syrup for 5 minutes. Remove it from the heat and let it cool before using or storing in the fridge.

    Step 3

Advance preparation: Make up to 3 weeks ahead, cover, and chill.

    Step 4

    Freezing: Not suitable.
